Policies & Guidelines
AIMS is ARYZTA’s comprehensive set of programs, policies, guidelines, and requirements for our bakery operations. Currently there are 28 separate AIMS programs covering such topics as People Safety, Food Safety, Food Quality & Environmental Compliance, Sustainability, Traceability and Crisis Management, Business Continuity Plans, Procurement and IT. Each bakery is required to comply with AIMS programs
Customer requirements are a central component of all of our baking operations. Each customer’s specifications, expectations and requirements are documented to ensure compliance
ARYZTA’s internal policies require compliance with all food safety laws and regulations, including labelling requirements
Our 2017 Results
Global Food Safety Initiative certification
In North America, all of our bakeries have received certification from the Global Food Safety Initiative with an annual re-audit and recertification by independent third party auditors
In Europe: ARYZTA bakeries are certified by the IFS and/or BRC standard with many being audited as well by AIB GMP standards.
Non-GMO
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) are raw materials that have been bioengineered to improve crop yields, resist pests, or increase nutrient levels. While many crops in North America are grown with GMO seeds, there is a growing interest in consumers to reduce or eliminate GMO’s in their diets. It is a goal of the La Brea Bakery brand to serve only non-GMO food and our work continues to certify La Brea Bakery artisan bread as non-GMO through the Non-GM Project third party certification process. In Europe, ARYZTA do not use products that consist of or contain ingredients produced from GMOs.
Organic
In 2015 in North America La Brea Bakery launched two organic breads – take and bake organic wheat and organic French loaf. ARYZTA Europe includes several organic food items in the portfolio, such a baguettes, loafs, croissants and others.
Otis Spunkmeyer “No Funky Stuff”
ARYZTA offers Otis Spunkmeyer “No Funky Stuff” trademark, highlighting that these recipes are made with no artificial flavors or colors, no high-fructose corn syrup, and no partially hydrogenated oils.
Additives
At ARYZTA, as the bulk of food is preserved by flash freezing additive usage is limited to the lowest level required and natural alternatives are used whenever possible.
Clean labels
ARYZTA’s quality teams are working towards delivering formulations with fewer ingredients as this development is now a leading area of interest for customers and consumers. As the bulk of ARYZTA’s food is preserved by flash freezing, ARYZTA is well placed to lead clear label developments.
