Policies & Guidelines
- While ARYZTA is a global baking company, but sources several animal-based ingredients at certain locations. Although ARYZTA does not own or raise animals, we believe animal welfare is an important component of a sustainable supply chainAnimal Welfare Policy
- ARYZTA endorses the “Five Freedom” concept developed by the Farm Animal Welfare Council: freedom from hunger and thirst, discomfort, pain, injury, or disease, freedom to express normal behavior, and freedom from fear and distress
- ARYZTA’s policy also includes

- Reflects our commitment to conduct our business activities in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- ARYTZA expects its suppliers and all supplier employees to adhere to ARYZTA’s Code of Conduct in all business dealings. To our knowledge, all purchased volume from suppliers is compliant with our Code of Conduct and policies

- Anti-bribery, anti-corruption requirement
- Compliance with US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and all other corresponding European and International laws
- Avoidance of conflicts of interest
- Strict policies on gifts, entertainment and hospitality
- Close regulation of compliance with all environmental laws
- Compliance with all product quality and safety laws and regulations and ARYZTA specifications
- Freedom of association and respecting the right of workers
- No forced or compulsory labor
- Prohibits slavery and human trafficking
- Enforces strict child labor policy
- Employee work hours in compliance with all local laws and regulations; voluntary overtime opportunities for employees

- Through our third-party auditing, any violations relating to child labor or forced/compulsory labor are required to be addressed by the supplier through a formal corrective action plan process

- In North America, ARYZTA complies with the California Supply Chain Transparency Act of 2010 through:
- Suppliers signing Code of Conduct
- Training for internal ARYZTA employees on slavery and human trafficking
- Third-party auditing of suppliers on a routine schedule
- Palm Oil Strategy
- ARYZTA supports the development of sustainable palm oil
- ARYZTA is a global member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil
- In North America:
- Since 2013, ARYZTA has purchased and redeemed GreenPalm certificates to cover all use of palm oil (Book & Claim)
- ARYZTA is exploring further sustainability initiatives using physical supply chain schemes such as Mass Balance quality to improve traceability of more sustainable supply sources
- In Europe
- All margarines and bakery fats are now transitioned to Mass Balance and ARYZTA is working closely with our suppliers to continuously transition to Segregate qualities – traceable to sustainable production source
- UEP and Cage-Free Egg strategy
- In support of ARYZTA’s goal of humane treatment of animals, since 2013 ARYZTA only utilizes UEP (United Egg Producers) certified eggs for all liquid eggs sourced. UEP requirements address bird cage size, use of antibiotics, beak trimming procedures, and other animal welfare concerns, and include third-party audits of farmer practices
- ARYZTA Europe uses liquid eggs sourced from barn eggs and free range eggs which comply with controlled alternative animal rearing such as KAT, which attest to compliance with stringent animal hygiene and rearing requirements
- Cocoa Strategy
- In Europe ARYZTA is working together with suppliers and customers to continuously increase use of sustainable cocoa from UTZ and Fairtrade sources
- Deforestation
- In Europe, ARYZTA is using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved Virgin Paper for kraft papers.
